Years back it used to be the other way around where Granite was more expensive than Quartz Fabricators can get raw slabs of Granite direct cheaper than man made Quartz such as suppliers Dupont, Caeserstone, Silestone However, Cambria and Avonite are still reasonable As another individual stated the fabricators play a role in cost as well Man made and natural has pros and cons however, I prefer Granite First you need to ask yourself what do you want in a countertop Cutting on honed quartz or soapstone will leave marks Citrus is the worry for marble.
Sealing granite Once a year There are many granite fabricators that offer lifetime sealants now so there is no worry for it.. They are doing this to stay up with the quartz tops.
I find I sell more quartz tops for more of the metro look and they really have some different looks. Granite I find I still do a lot of it A lot of my clients have done the polished look and want something different. Leathered, antiqued, honed.. There are some really beautiful stones out there that have a lot of movement in them and they are a classic! You are the only one that has that slice of earth!
Granite and Quartz both can have hot pots on them Do your homework and you will know when you see it. Good luck! Hope this helped. Kitchen island counter-top: white "calacatta" vs grey with specs Q.
It's a lot whiter than the others. After reading comments on here for a quite a while now, I'd have to say that I've seen more complaints about Caesarstone staining to the point where I would, if installing a countertop in my house, eliminate Caesarstone as a choice. I'd recommend Silestone or Cambria. You'll find that both are in a higher end price point. We sell a lot of MSI quartz, specifically Calacatta Vincenza, to people who want a lower-priced option. I have never had any complaints or calls that it's stained and not coming clean, however, it's made in China.

Samples do not give you a true picture. I can't express how much that means to me. Just wonderful customer service. Cambria 4 years ago. Hello Ellie, Thank you for your kind testimonial! Ellie, I'm glad you had that option!
I'm in PA, and I spoke with 3 local Cambria dealers. All used the same place in OH to get their slabs. I drove to OH 2. They told me it was per Cambria policy. I called Cambria, and they told me this wasn't their official policy. But I had no choice since the faculty in OH was the only one all my local Cambria dealers used! I just wanted to make sure the OP knew this might be an issue, as I've heard it from others re: Cambria as well.

There's a lot to like about this durable blend of quartz and resin for kitchen countertops, and the downsides are minimal. See our tips below. Many believe that quartz countertops are basically indestructible and nearly maintenance-free, but that is not really accurate.
A Quartz countertop is an excellent and durable surface, but no surface is perfect. All countertop materials are susceptible to damage in one way or another. The truth is that you would have to try very hard and be very neglectful to do any real damage to quartz countertops, but it is possible, so Always use cutting boards for food prep, trivets under hot pots and pans and wipe up spills before they dry. Daily cleaning is a snap. Hot water and a sponge are sufficient for keeping things tidy followed by an appropriate cleaner on a daily or as-needed basis.
It's best to use a quality natural stone cleaner. Since the major component of Zodiac counters is quartz a natural stone element , it makes sense to treat it like granite and avoid potential damage from use of the wrong cleaner.
Do not use bleach or other common household cleaners which may be too caustic and discolor a quartz countertop. The installation costs of Dupont Zodiaq counters run very similar to granite.
Prices can vary quite a bit depending on specific color, edge style, surface finish options, the number of sink, faucet and cooktop cutouts, etc. Also, prices and averages can vary based on the region of the country. It's All Marketing. All quartz manufacturers highlight the benefits of quartz vs. Zodiaq and quartz counters in general do offer many great features. The main point is that quartz is non-porous and doesn't need sealing. Granite typically will need a sealer.
