When is evil dead 2 coming out

The Evil Dead franchise has now been delighting horror fans for nearly 40 years, since Raimi and Campbell's original film. In , the Evil Dead brand was resurrected for a film by director Fede Alvarez , a quasi-remake of Raimi's original, but also a story that was hinted to take place in the established Evil Dead universe.

However, instead of Alvarez returning for what seemed to be a likely sequel to his hit, Raimi and Campbell returned to the property in for the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV show that aired for three seasons on Starz. After Ash vs. Evil Dead was canceled, Campbell made it known that he was retiring the character of Ash, but gave his blessing to the franchise continuing without him. Prior to a confirmed announcement, it was rumored there would be a fourth Evil Dead film, with Raimi and Alvarez suggesting the next installment would be somewhat of a crossover between the remake and Ash.

Unfortunately, that was not meant to be. Here's what we know. Sam Raimi confirmed that Evil Dead Rise was in the works in October , and also announced that Bruce Campbell would only be involved as an executive producer.

However, Campbell is still very much involved in the project behind the scenes. In addition to being the star of most of the Evil Dead franchise, Bruce Campbell has also been an executive producer of each installment, including the remake and TV spin-off. The year-old former Burn Notice cast member is returning to that position for Evil Dead Rise , which is not a bad consolation to seeing him absent from the cast.

Also returning to the franchise he created as executive producer is Sam Raimi, who wrote, produced, and directed the first three films before becoming well known for superhero movies like his Spider-Man trilogy and the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Evil Dead Rise will be the second film in the franchise to not be directed by Sam Raimi, despite previously voicing interest in making another film if Bruce Campbell would star , which is obviously not going to happen. Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin made a promising break into the horror genre which his impressive short Ghost Train in , followed by his interesting feature-length debut The Hole in the Ground in We shall see how groovy this new installment proves to be whenever it comes out on HBO Max.

Jason has been writing since he was able to pick up a washable marker, with which he wrote his debut illustrated children's story, later transitioning to a short-lived comic book series and very amateur filmmaking before finally settling on pursuing a career in writing about movies in lieu of making them.
